Please take a moment to review how images on this site are protected and licensed, and what to do if you've lost access to a purchase.
Every photograph on this site — whether offered for purchase, shown as portfolio work, or used in promotional material — is the exclusive intellectual property of Focal Point Photography, protected under U.S. and international copyright law from the moment it's created. No license to reproduce, distribute, display, or otherwise use these images is granted unless stated explicitly in writing.
Unauthorized use of any image from this site is not tolerated. That includes, without limitation:
If you're unsure whether a specific use is allowed, ask first — permission is never assumed, only granted in writing.
Taking a photograph from this site by any method — download, screenshot, or otherwise — is copyright infringement and a federal offense. Under 17 U.S.C. § 504, statutory damages range from $750 to $30,000 per work, and up to $150,000 for willful infringement; criminal penalties can apply under 17 U.S.C. § 506 for willful infringement done for commercial gain. Unauthorized use is actively monitored, and violations will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.
Purchasing a photograph grants a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license for personal, non-commercial use only — unless a different license is agreed to in writing at the time of purchase. A sale never transfers copyright; Focal Point Photography retains full ownership of every image regardless of how many copies are sold.
Reselling, redistributing, sublicensing, gifting, or otherwise sharing a purchased photograph with a third party is prohibited, whether or not money changes hands. That includes giving a copy to a friend, posting it publicly, uploading it to a stock site, or including it in something sold to others.
Violations may result in:
Purchase records, transaction logs, and digital watermarking make unauthorized redistribution traceable back to the original purchaser. By completing a purchase, you agree to these terms in full.
This isn't about making the buying experience difficult — every photograph represents real time, skill, and creative work. These terms exist to protect that work and the ability to keep making it. Thank you for respecting it.
Files get lost, devices break, downloads don't always go as planned. If you've purchased a photograph and lost access to it, here's how to get it back.
Step 1Start at the Customer Portal. Sign in with the exact email used at checkout — the portal uses a passwordless login, so a verification link will be sent to that address. Click the link to log in and re-download anything tied to that email.
If you no longer have access to that email account, the verification link can't reach you, and you'll need the manual process below instead.
Step 2If you can't access your checkout email, send a message from the Contact page with the subject line "Purchase Recovery Request" and include:
Once received, the purchase will be manually looked up and verified against what's on file — this may take a little time depending on request volume. Once verified, the file will be sent to the email address you contacted from, so make sure it's one you check regularly.
Additional information may be requested if a purchase can't be confirmed with what's initially provided. This exists to protect both customers and the integrity of sales records — a purchased file is never knowingly sent to someone who didn't buy it.
